Abdul Greene (b.1973) is a self-taught, Manhattan based artist.
He creates with graphite, watercolors and colored pencils, using various illustrations and photographs as a reference for his art. He takes his time with each piece he creates, sometimes spending multiple months perfecting his line work and color mixing.
Abdul says that he enjoys the routine of the art studio, noting his propensity to wipe down his workstation, sharpening his own and his peers’ pencils, and donning a smock whether or not his work requires one.
A generally positive person, Abdul feels particularly happy when the subject of his drawings is something he enjoys. He mentions leaves, butterflies, the D train, the color blue, sunny days, ice-cold water, and ice cream as some of his favorites.
