Vernette (Vernetta) Walker (b.1964) is a self-taught artist and poet from Brooklyn, NY.

Both her artwork and her poetry are inspired by religion and her unique outlook on life. Sometimes her poetry stands on its own, however it is often incorporated into her art, be it embroidering the verses onto fabric or letting her them inspire her paintings and drawings.

Vernetta works across mediums, utilizing any material she can find. When working on paper or canvas, she gravitates toward acrylic markers, but enjoys experimenting with water-based markers, acrylic paints, oil pastels, colored pencils, micron pens, and more. She brings her whimsy to each work, often utilizing craft materials such as stickers, ribbons, and googly eyes. Her textile work is just as dynamic; her latest works being a series of colorful pillows.
